If you discover smoke or a fire, press the alarm at one of the red Call Points if the alarm is not already sounding. The building must be evacuated immediately, and a register taken of all children.

When the fire alarm sounds, the supervising director, tutor or chaperone on the ground floor must check the fire panel by the main entrance to identify the source of the alarm and possible fire. A ground plan is on the wall by the main entrance. This area should then be checked by two adults, if it
is safe to do so, for the source of the fire. (It could be a false alarm). If smoke or a fire is evident, immediately call 999 for the Fire Service to attend:

WAREHOUSE STUDIOS, PAUL’S ROAD, IP2 0AN. (Tell them the fire’s location, if known.)

The alarm alert is sent to the Co-op Security Centre, but they do not call the Fire Service.

Extinguishers are placed around the studio: the appropriate one may be used if it is safe to do so. Do not place yourself in danger. Ensure all doors and windows are closed in each studio before leaving, and that the toilets and other areas are checked.

A register of all children must be taken at the Assembly areas. If any are not present, re-enter the building only it is safe to do so to locate them.

The alarm can be silenced by the supervising director, tutor or chaperone by: ALARM PANEL: push the right arrow (2) in the centre cluster of buttons, 5 times to enter the code 2-2-2-2. Then push Silence Alarm. This only mutes the alarm, do NOT press RESET unless it is a false alarm and the Fire Service are not called.
