Our 80 Years

First show, Aladdin, performed at the Co-op Hall

Building on an earlier dance group in the town, the Ipswich Co-op established the Co-op Juniors to provide activity for evacuees returning to Ipswich in the early years of the war.

Co-op Juniors tours

With the establishment of a regular Christmas pantomime in Ipswich, the Co-op Juniors would take their production to villages around Ipswich during the war years and beyond.

First performances in professional theatre

After the Second World War, the Juniors began to perform regularly at the Ipswich Arts Theatre.

1952 – Pat Monk and Joy Ledgerwood appointed the group’s directors

Pat and Joy, who began choreographing for the group during the Second World War, became permanent directors and went on to produce 23 shows over 25 years.
